Youth-led anti-bullying organisation Sticks ’n Stones is mobilising its networks to make the most of the ‘‘One Good Kiwi’’ campaign that began this month.
As part of telecommunications company Vodafone’s rebranding as One New Zealand, the business has launched a One Good Kiwi campaign, asking New Zealanders where to direct $100,000 of funding each month through donating tokens to the charities of their choice.
Sticks ’n Stones, formed in Central Otago in 2013 to empower rangitahi (young people), was one of 10 groups chosen to take part in the October campaign.
Operations lead Jennifer Huddleston said the member schools of Sticks ’n Stones had worked hard to get their communities involved in the campaign.
As of Tuesday at noon, Sticks ’n Stones was topping the campaign leaderboard for October, accounting for 34.9% of the tokens recorded.
‘‘Young people are really awesome and they have mobilised their friends,’’ Mrs Huddleston said.
‘‘Our rangitahi are who we work for and it’s a way they can support us without having to give money that they might not have.’’
You do not need to be a Vodafone customer to take part in the campaign, and each month the $100,000 will be shared with the featured charities based on tokens given.
