Changes to Central Otago District Council’s rubbish collection began this week with contractors following the rubbish collection truck and replacing lids on wheelie bins.
The existing red bins will become green›lidded organic waste bins for food scraps and greenwaste, to be collected weekly.
A new smaller, 140-litre, red lidded bin will be delivered when the lids are changed. The red bin will continue to be collected fortnightly.
Not all bins will be changed in the first round due to the number to be done.
If a bin is missed this week it should be done on the next scheduled collection day.
A clip to stop recycling bin lids blowing open will be the last part of the changeover and installation will begin next week.
